Persistent müllerian duct syndrome: report of two boys with associated transverse testicular ectopia.

چکیده
Persistent mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is an unusual form of male pseudohermaphroditism characterized by the presence of a uterus and fallopian tubes in an otherwise differentiated male with a 46XY karyotype. Since the first report in 1939, approximately 150 new cases have been reported. Most refer to isolated cases, while a few involve siblings. Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a rare condition in which one-testis crosses the midline and both the two testes are found on one inguinal sid. The ectopic testis may lie at the internal ring, in the inguinal canal or in the scrotum. Lenhossek in 1886 first described this entity and since then about 100 cases have been reported. The association of PMDS and TTE is recorded in adult literature, but to date only 9 pediatric cases have been reported in the English literature (Table ).

AB169. Clinical aspects and molecular genetics of persistent müllerian duct syndrome associated with transverse testicular ectopia: report of three cases
Persistent müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of male pseudohermaphroditism, characterized by the presence of a uterus and fallopian tubes owing to failure of müllerian duct regression in genotypically normal males. The association between a persistent müllerian duct and transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is even more uncommon. PMDS with TTE is a very rare pathological association, ...
متن کاملTransverse Testicular Ectopia: A Rare Presentation with Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome
Undescended testes can be found in the inguinal channel or in the abdomen. Rarely, undescended testes can present with transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) and very rarely, with residual Müllerian duct (MD) structures. This latter presentation is called persistent MD syndrome (PMDS). PMDS is mostly discovered during surgery for inguinal hernia or cryptorchidism. TTE is a rare congenital anomaly ...
متن کاملPersistent mullerian duct syndrome associated with transverse testicular ectopia.
Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS) associated with transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is rare. Ten cases have been reported in the past. Accurate diagnosis with karyotype and histological analysis is crucial. Surgical management should be geared toward preservation of fertility when possible.
متن کاملPersistent Mullerian duct syndrome with transverse testicular ectopia presenting in an irreducible recurrent inguinal hernia.
Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS), a form of male pseudohermaphroditism, is rare. This is a case report of 40-years-old, an otherwise normal male, presenting with Mullerian duct derivatives and transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) in the sac of irreducible recurrent inguinal hernia.
متن کاملTransverse testicular ectopia, a case report and review of literature
Crossed testicular ectopia (CTE)/transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a rare but well known congenital anomaly, in which both gonads migrate toward the same hemiscrotum. It is usually associated with other abnormalities such as persistent Mullerian duct syndrome, true hermaphroditism, inguinal hernia, hypospadias, pseudohermaphroditism, and scrotal anomalies. About 100 cases of transverse tes...
